Do I need to apply for accreditation to perform botulinum toxin injections if I am performing it for a patient’s functional purpose e.g., management of bruxism?
Botox for functional purposes such as to treat myalgia and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) dysfunction is permitted for dental practitioners and does not require accreditation. However, Botox injection for cosmetic purposes will require Council’s accreditation.
