Is it compulsory for students to offer H1 Mother Tongue at A-level?

Updated by RI
Yes, H1 Mother Tongue is a compulsory subject. However, students who have obtained a grade of D7 or better at the GCE O-Level Higher Mother Tongue Examination are deemed to have fulfilled the Mother Tongue requirement for university admission and do not need to offer H1 Mother Tongue at A-level. Do note that the 1 academic unit for H1 Mother Tongue cannot be replaced by another subject.
