Why have salary ranges and why have they been expanded?

Updated by PSD

Under the Singapore political salary framework, each grade has a corresponding salary range. This provides the Prime Minister the flexibility to appoint political appointment holders in the same grade to an appropriate salary point within the range that is commensurate with o recognise their experience, seniority and performance. It also allows for salary adjustments and increments within the same grade. This is consistent with HR practice in Singapore the public and private sectors.

The widened range does not mean that new political appointment holders will automatically start at a higher salary. Pay progression is contingent on performance over time.
