Who can apply for a marriage with the Registry of Muslim Marriages?

To apply for a marriage with ROMM, both parties must:

  • You must both be Muslims

  • If either of you is a Muslim convert, you must first obtain a permanent conversion card from MCAS (for conversions within Singapore). For conversion outside Singapore, you must provide conversion documents and endorsement letter from MUIS.

  • You must obtain consent from the bride’s wali or lawful guardian. Find out the eligibility for the role of wali or browse our FAQs on how to obtain wali’s consent

  • You must both be at least 21 years old

  • You cannot be currently married to any other person, or have any existing marriage application with ROM or ROMM

  • Any previous marriage must be legally dissolved

  • Divorcees intending to remarry will be required to disclose details of any existing maintenance orders (including promptness of payments if applicable) as part of your statutory declarations
