Parents can help make the course safer by providing comprehensive declaration of health and medical condition(s). This enables OBS to better support participants during the course.

Activities are carefully designed and constantly supervised by qualified and experienced full time OBS instructors who have undergone rigorous training and safety certification such as the Wilderness Medical First Responder course. An appropriate instructor to student ratio ensures safe monitoring can be done during activities.

OBS has an Operations Room that is manned throughout the course. A dedicated team adopts the elements of Command, Communication and Control to enable safety monitoring, effective coordination, management, and communication. There is a comprehensive emergency plan that includes protocols for medical emergencies or any unforeseen circumstances.

There are Medical Centre/Posts that are well equipped and operate throughout the course. The registered nurses who manned the medical centre/posts support instructors who are in the field to assess and provide appropriate treatment for injured or unwell participants.

OBS also works closely with agencies like Singapore Civil Defence Force and Police Coast Guard (Singapore Police Force) when emergencies or extenuating circumstances arise.
