Can a child who wears hearing aids participate in water-based activities at OBS without their hearing aids, as the hearing aids are not waterproof?

If the student can hear without the hearing aid, he/she can participate in the water activities. However, if the student is unable to hear without the hearing aid, he/she will need to sit out of the water activities for their own safety.

Additionally, if the hearing aids require charging, parents should ensure that the student has sufficient external charging (e.g. power bank) for the hearing aids for the full duration of the course.

It is important for parents to declare all medical conditions, including the use of hearing aids, in the Course Registration Form. This will ensure that OBS provides the necessary support and resources for students to participate in the MOE-OBS Challenge Programme safely. The safety of the student is of utmost importance, and the student may participate only if it is assessed to be safe to do so. Any undeclared medical condition may impact the student’s OBS participation.
