Can I renew the road tax of a vehicle that belongs to a deceased owner?
Check that all the applicable road tax renewal prerequisites, such as having valid motor insurance coverage (at least third-party risk), passing of vehicle inspection, etc., are fulfilled at least 3 working days before renewing the vehicle's road tax.
As the registered owner of the vehicle has passed away, you are also advised to check that the insurance policy is issued under "The Estate of (deceased vehicle owner's name)". Road tax can be renewed via Internet, AXS Stations, AXS m-Station (mobile), AXS e-Station (internet) or Road Tax Collection Centres.
For road tax renewal at Road Tax Collection Centres, please bring along original supporting documents such as the hard copy insurance certificate/cover note and inspection certificate (if applicable) etc.
As long as a vehicle is registered in Singapore, the vehicle licence (i.e. road tax) of the vehicle remains payable regardless of whether the vehicle is being used or not. This includes vehicles that are registered under the name of a deceased vehicle owner.
