Upon the death of a co-owner of a HDB flat under joint tenancy, what should the family do?

Under the Land Titles Act, the surviving owner(s) is/are required to lodge a Notice of Death (NOD) with Singapore Land Authority (SLA) so that the ownership of the whole flat is vested in the surviving owner(s). Visit HDB's website for more information on retaining a flat following life events.
