Why are some ingredients classified as Syubhah (doubtful)?
In Islamic dietary law, halal food means permissible, whilst haram means not permissible. What falls in between? Something you can't tell if it's halal or not – this is syubhah. An ingredient is classified as syubhah (doubtful) if one is unsure of its halal status and origin.

What is the difference between Halal and Halal-certified food?
I have just purchased a food product which bears a Halal certification mark on its packaging. Upon examining its ingredient listing, I found one ingredient that is classified as Syubhah. Is the product still considered as Halal?
