What are the eligibility requirements and entitlements for Government-Paid Leave Schemes (GPLS) when a child is not a Singapore citizen at birth and has not obtained citizenship status?

Updated by MSF

If the child is not a Singapore Citizen at the point of birth (and is not obtaining Singapore citizenship at all), the parent will not be eligible for Government-Paid Leave Schemes (GPLS).

However, the parent may still be entitled to maternity and childcare leave under the Employment Act (EA).

For detailed information about eligibility requirements and how to apply for these Employment Act benefits, please visit the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) website or contact your HR department.
