How can father utilise the Government-Paid Paternity Leave (GPPL) entitlement?

Updated by MSF

The father may commence his 4 weeks mandatory leave on or after:

1.       Natural Father: The child's date of birth (DOB)

2.       Adoptive Father: The date of Formal Intent to Adopt (FIA)

Leave may be taken continuously within 16 weeks from child’s DOB/FIA or non-continuously (flexibly) within 12 months from child’s DOB/FIA (with mutual agreement between employer and employee).

As per prevailing guidelines, primary leave schemes (i.e., Government Paid Maternity Leave (GPML), Government-Paid Paternity Leave (GPPL) or Adoption Leave for Mothers (AL)) must be exhausted prior to the commencement of Shared Parental Leave (SPL).
