You can expect higher cash assistance if you make a new ComCare Short-to-Medium-Term Assistance (SMTA) application or apply to renew your existing assistance on or after 1 April 2025. 

The increase depends on your household circumstances:

• If your household circumstances (e.g., income level, needs) remain unchanged or have worsened (e.g., lost income), you can expect higher assistance.

• If your family's circumstances have improved (e.g., gained income), you may see a reduction in cash assistance at the next point of assessment. However, this reduction will not take place immediately.
