What is the Start-Up Grant (SUG) under Student Care Fee Assistance (SCFA)?
SUG is for eligible families to offset the initial costs of enrolling their children in SCCs. Children who are receiving Student Care Fee Assistance for the first time and have not received SUG will be eligible to apply.
SUG covers registration fee, deposit (equivalent to one month’s fee), insurance fee, and uniforms (capped at 3 days’ requirement). The maximum claim under SUG is $400 inclusive of GST, if applicable.
School-based SCCs will not be eligible to claim for insurance fee, as they are required under MOE policy to bear the group insurance for children enrolled in their centres.
