What is the amount of GST to be refunded per individual for the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) application/registration fees for Professional Deputy (PD)? How is this amount computed?
Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) will be reaching out to all affected individuals via letters to inform them of the amount to be refunded to them.
The refund amount is determined based on the amount of GST paid at the point of application, with a 5.5% per annum interest accrued annually (excluding the year of refund).
E.g., if the application payment was made in 2020, the refund amount will be as follows:
GST Paid = $6.54
Interest = $6.54 x 5.5% x 4 years* = $1.44
Total = $6.54 + $1.44 = $7.98
Refund Amount = $8.00
(rounded up to the nearest $0.10)
*2024-2020 = 4 years
