What are the criteria for registering as a professional Deputy/Donee?
Only the following professions are eligible to be registered as a PD.
* Singapore Qualified Lawyers, admitted as Advocates and Solicitors under the Legal Profession Act; or
* Registered Public Accountant under the Accountants Act: or
* Registered Chartered Accountants under the Singapore Accountancy Commission Act (Cap. 294B); or
* Registered Medical Practitioners under the Medical Registration Act; or
* Registered Allied Health Professionals under the Allied Health Professions Act; or
* Registered Nurses under the Nurses & Midwives Act; or
* Registered Social Workers or Registered Social Service Practitioners with the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board.
There are also other criteria to fulfil, including:
1. Passing a certification course conducted by OPG.
2. At least one Mental Capacity Act (MCA) case as a deputy or legal counsel, or practised in his profession for continuous period of 5 years.
3. Not a bankrupt or discharged bankrupt who is still on Official Assignee’s records.
4. Good credit rating from Credit Bureau.
