How do I apply for the ComCare Short-to-Medium-Term Assistance (SMTA)?

To apply:

  • Visit SupportGoWhere to apply online. You may refer to this step-by-step video guide if you need help with your application.

  • Alternatively, visit your nearest Social Service Office (SSO) to apply in person.

  • Each SSO administers ComCare financial assistance and links applicants up with other forms of assistance they might need, such as family services. The SSO will assess your eligibility for assistance regardless of whether you apply online or in person.

You need to provide:

  • (a) Updated bank account passbooks / account summary / bank balance enquiry slips or similar for all members, clearly showing the latest bank balance in the last month

    (b) Your identity card or birth certificate for all members

(Note: NRIC/FIN of main applicants will not be required for online applications as the login will be via Singpass. If applicant / household / other family member had provided these identification documents in earlier ComCare applications, they will not be required again.)

Your identity card or birth certificate (of applicant and all household members )

  • Other supporting documents, if relevant:

    • Latest utility bill(s) (e.g. Singapore Power (SP), private electricity retailers)

    • Latest Medical Certificate (with duration and fitness for work status)

    • Pay-slips / Employment contract (for employment without CPF contributions)

    • Latest employment / termination letter (for recent changes in employment status)

    • Insurance Letter (for lump-sum / regular payouts by private insurer)

    • Any other supporting documents
