What can I expect if the Court calls for a Probation Suitability Report?

The Court Officer will refer the offender and parents to the Probation Intake Office, located within the State Courts. Here, an officer from the Probation and Community Rehabilitation Service will obtain brief information on the youth and family and brief them on what to expect as part of the social investigation process. They will subsequently be contacted by the Investigating Probation Officer who will conduct the    interviews with the offender and his/her family and provide an assessment to the Court on the offender's suitability for probation. If the offender is remanded, the Probation Officer will interview him/her in remand and the parents separately.
