Why is registration required for the enhanced Travel Smart Journeys (TSJ) rewards but not the free morning off-peak rail travel in the North-East?

You do not need to sign up for anything to enjoy free off-peak rail travel when you tap in during designated off-peak hours at selected North East Line (NEL) stations or any stations on the Sengkang and Punggol LRT (SPLRT), as it is waived automatically by the system.

For TSJ, because of the discounts you get for your entire journey (including connecting buses) when you travel on an eligible NEL/SPLRT stretch, the system needs to track your journey across different transport modes to calculate your rewards. As such, you need to register through the SimplyGo app first so that the system knows which trips to credit the TSJ rewards back to you after your journey.

The process to start earning rewards is simple:

  • Register for an account on the SimplyGo app

  • Add a travel card to your account

You may also write in to https://www.simplygo.com.sg/feedback/ or call the hotline at 1800-2255-663 for assistance.
