How often must workers renew their Safety Orientation Courses (SOC) certification?
The renewal frequency depends on industry experience:
| If they have worked in the respective industries for | They must pass the safety orientation course |
|---|---|
| 6 years or less | Once every 2 years |
| More than 6 years | Once every 4 years |
Years of experience are calculated based on active employment period only, excluding home leave.
For example, Work Permit holder ABC has been working in Singapore’s construction industry for the past 6 years. He went on home leave twice (totalling 4 months). This means that he has only 5 years 8 months of active employment to date.
