What are the changes in processing WICA claims under WICA 2019?
For serious or fatal injuries, claims processing for lump-sum compensation for permanent incapacity or death will begin once the accidents are reported to MOM and insurer, where applicable.
Those with less serious injuries can apply within 1 year from the accident if they wish to make a permanent incapacity claim.
Designated WIC insurers will process the claims insured under the WICA 2019 approved policies that started from 1 January 2021, while MOM will process all other claims.
If there are any objections to the claim, MOM will step in to settle the dispute.
