My employee visited a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (TCMP). Are they eligible for paid sick leave?

No. Under the Employment Act, employers are required to recognise MCs issued by doctors registered under the Medical Registration Act or dentists registered under the Dental Registration Act for the purposes of granting paid sick leave.

As TCM plays a complementary role in Singapore's healthcare system, employers have the discretion to also recognise MCs issued by TCMPs registered under the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Act when granting paid sick leave to employees.
