Why is MOM changing the requirements for mandatory retrenchment notification?
This enables Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), the tripartite partners – the Ministry of Manpower, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) – and other relevant agencies to support affected employees with employment and job search support in a more timely manner.
The updated requirement also removes the need for employers to track the cumulative number of retrenched employees within a certain period, to ascertain if they need to file the mandatory retrenchment notification.
