My child is not a Singapore citizen. Am I eligible for paternity leave?

Eligibility for Government-Paid Paternity Leave (GPPL) is based on your child's citizenship.
However, if you meet all the other eligibility criteria, and your child becomes a Singapore citizen within 12 months of birth, you will be eligible for GPPL.
Your child is born on 10 August 2013 and becomes a Singapore citizen on 10 February 2014.
You can take paternity leave anytime between 10 February and 9 August 2014.
For employees who don’t meet the criteria, employers are still encouraged to adopt family-friendly measures, such as granting paternity leave, to allow them to balance their family and work commitments. This will in turn help them to contribute more effectively at work.
