Can a work pass holder go on unpaid leave?
A work pass is issued for the foreigner to perform work in Singapore.
We recognize that some employees may need to take unpaid leave for legitimate reasons such as maternity, long-term sickness or family emergency.
Under such circumstances, employers are advised to cancel the work pass of their employees if the unpaid leave exceeds 6 months.
A new work pass application can be submitted when the foreigner is ready to work in Singapore again.
