Can I leave my MDW with a friend, relative or employment agency while I am overseas?

Yes, you may arrange for your migrant domestic worker (MDW) to stay with your friend, relative or employment agency while you are overseas, provided the temporary accommodation period does not exceed one month.

To do so, you must notify MOM at least 7 days before your trip, and fulfil the following responsibilities:  

When You must
 Before departure
  • Ensure your MDW’s temporary accommodation meets the requirements set by MOM and other relevant public agencies.
For Employment Agency’s (EA) boarding facilities, the facilities must comply with the Employment Agencies Licencing Condition (Annex D).
  • Inform your MDW about the accommodation arrangement before you leave Singapore.
  • Notify MOM at least 7 days before your trip. We will send you an email acknowledgement within one day.
While you are overseas
  • Ensure the person your MDW stays with takes care of her well-being and she will not be asked to perform any work at the premises
  • Continue paying your MDW’s salary and levy
  • Provide for her upkeep and maintenance, including accommodation, food and medical treatment
  • Remain contactable to your MDW
If there are any changes to the arrangement, you must notify MOM again before proceeding with the new arrangement..
