Can my employer prevent me from being represented by a union for employment issues?

In accordance with the Industrial Relations Act, employers can object for specific groups of employees to be represented by their union, such as those in senior management positions.

However, employers cannot prevent employees from joining a trade union. For example, your employer cannot prevent you from participating in the trade union's activities or associating with other members or officials of a trade union.
