Why does the Standard Integrated Shield Plan not cover pre-existing conditions with risk-loading?

Similar to all other Integrated Shield Plans (IPs), the additional private insurance component of the Standard IP is provided by private insurers. Coverage under the Standard IP is therefore a business decision based on the risk assessment framework of each insurer.

Since the launch of MediShield Life, the Ministry of Health has allowed all IP insurers to introduce risk-loading options for policyholders who would like coverage for their pre-existing conditions. You may wish to check with your insurer if risk-loaded options are available for your plan.
