If I downgrade to an Integrated Shield Plan (IP) with lower coverage or switch insurers, will I need to go through health assessment / underwriting again?

You do not have to go through underwriting again if you downgrade your IP to a plan with lower coverage with the same insurer. However, you will need to undergo underwriting again if you wish to switch to a new insurer, even if the new plan is of the same or lower coverage than your original plan.

Upon the inception of your new plan under your new insurer, your original plan under your original insurer will be automatically terminated. Please note that you may hence lose coverage for existing medical conditions covered by your original plan, depending on the underwriting outcome of the new insurer, and may not be able to re-apply for your original coverage later.

Regardless of any change in your IP insurer, you will remain covered by MediShield Life without any exclusions, for life.

Please speak to your financial advisor to find out more about the implications of switching plans before making your decision. Please also highlight any medical conditions you have to your financial advisor.
