In the event of an unexpected demise or sudden departure of a CGO, licensees must appoint a new CGO within 20 calendar days after the previous CGO has left.

To avoid any situation where there is no CGO overseeing the clinical service, it is recommended for licensees to nominate another individual as a “back up” CGO who would take over the role of the CGO in the event of an unexpected demise or sudden departure of the CGO. Licensees need not notify MOH of this “back up” CGO.
