How much do I need to repay if I cancel my loan during the cooling-off period?
If you cancel your loan during the cooling-off period, you will need to repay (a) the remaining principal amount of the loan disbursed to you (after deduction of the loan approval fee upfront); and (b) up to a portion of the loan approval fee that the licensed moneylender is entitled to retain. No interest will be charged, and the total amount you repay shall not exceed the principal amount of the loan.
The maximum amount of the loan approval fee that the licensed moneylender is allowed to retain depends on the principal amount of your loan, as set out below:
Principal Amount of Loan | Maximum Loan Approval Fee Retainable by the Licensed Moneylender |
$5,000 and below | $50, and not exceeding the loan approval fee paid |
More than $5,000 | 3.5% of the principal amount, and not exceeding the loan approval fee paid |
