If I am a bankrupt, can I still apply for legal aid or legal advice?

You are eligible to apply for legal aid or legal advice even though you are a bankrupt, subject to satisfying our Means and Merits Tests. However, we will need to obtain the Official Assignee's approval in order to commence certain types of court proceedings for you, namely those which would affect the assets in your bankruptcy estate (excluding divorce proceedings and personal injury claims).
