What happens if my lawyer's certificate of registration ("CoR") has expired?

If your law practice did not submit an application to renew the CoR before its expiry, it will need to submit an application for a new CoR. Please do so as soon as possible. Please note that providing legal services in or from Singapore without a valid CoR is prohibited under the Legal Profession Act. The lawyer should not practise law in or from Singapore unless and until a new CoR has been issued.

If the lawyer's renewal application is submitted via LSRA e-Services before the existing CoR has expired, the renewed CoR will be valid from the day after the existing CoR expires, even if the existing CoR expires before the renewed CoR is issued.

It is the responsibility of the Registrant and the law practice to take note of the expiry date and ensure that CoR applications are submitted in good time. Applications can be submitted up to 6 months in advance.
