Are there any requirements applicable to the use of law practice names in publicity or marketing materials, including websites and articles?
Law practices must use their full name corresponding with the approved name on their law practice licence, on all publicity materials including websites and articles written by the law practice's lawyers.
In particular, Singapore law practices ("SLP"), which are member firms of international networks or global firms or in any other collaborations with such firms, must ensure that they are referred to by their full names and their lawyers are properly listed as belonging to the SLP on the global or international website. The marketing and publicity materials should not give the impression that the SLP is a foreign law practice and must be consistent with the fact that the SLP is majority owned and controlled by Singapore lawyers, structured in compliance with the Legal Profession Act and subsidiary legislations.
