Service Pay (SP) is typically paid to all NSmen who are scheduled to attend ORNS activities held overseas whether or not their employers are registered with the DIRECT scheme, in preparation for the overseas trip. This is in-built into the payment system. Your employer has to recover the SP component from you.

To prevent this from recurring, employers registered with the DIRECT scheme with NSmen employees scheduled for overseas trainings are highlight encouraged to submit the auto-generated claims on the OneNS Portal at least 1-2 weeks before the start of the training to ensure that payment is made in full directly to the company.
