What are medical exemptions?
Medical exemptions are issued by Medical Officers to inform servicemen of their eligibility to participate in specific activities based on medical assessments.
Under the refreshed MCS, there will be a standardised list of medical exemptions which will determine one’s eligibility for activities during NS and for certain vocations. Examples of medical exemptions include “Exempt IPPT”, which exempts a serviceman from taking the Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT), and “Exempt Water Activities”, which exempts him from water-based activities such as swimming.
Medical exemptions will be made available to pre-enlistees on their OneNS portal, approximately two months after their medical screening.
