NSmen, who are students, are liable to be called up for ICT. MINDEF has made standing arrangements with local universities that undergraduate NSmen would only be called up for ICT during specific parts of the university vacations. If NSman is unable to attend ICT, he would need to apply for deferment. All deferment applications are assessed by the Unit Commanders on a case-by-case basis, subject to the unit's training needs.
