Granting deferment from ICT will have a significant impact on a unit's training, operational readiness and cohesiveness. It is important to strike a balance between granting deferment for a compulsory course component versus other activities that are not compulsory in nature. E.g. Exchange Programmes and Internships. Nonetheless, NSmen may still submit their deferment applications on the basis of their exchange programmes or internships. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to exigencies of service.
