Updated by MHA The line between gaming and gambling is increasingly blurred, with chance-based games becoming more common at amusement centres and fun fairs. Prizes have also grown in value, including items such as smartphones and gaming consoles.
These trends are concerning as they bring such activities closer to gambling and may increase the risk of gambling inducement, in particular for vulnerable groups such as young children.
Setting a cap on the value of prizes offered at amusement centres and fun fairs helps mitigate this risk, while allowing operators to continue offering their existing games.
