What is a foundation?

Updated by MCCY-CU

A foundation is perceived as an organisation with its own sources of funding (e.g. financed by a donation or a legacy provided by an individual or company or unsolicited private donations) dedicated to educational, religious, research or other charitable purposes. Due to the connotation that it is self-funded, foundations should not conduct any public fund-raising appeal to raise funds for its activities.
