What are the legislations/regulations/rules/requirements that charities must abide by?
Charities have to abide by the Charities Act and Regulations that outline the legislative requirements on registration, deregistration, submission of accounts, reports and returns, fund-raising and others.
These include:
Charities Act
Charities (Accounts and Annual Report) Regulations
Charities (Fund-Raising Appeals for Local and Foreign Charitable Purposes) Regulations
Charities (Large Charities) Regulations
Charities (Registration of Charities) Regulations
For IPCs, they would also have to comply with the Charities (Institutions of a Public Character) Regulations. The legislation and regulations are available on the Charity Portal or Singapore Statutes online.
