If Remission of ABSD for a Married Couple is granted for a couple’s joint purchase of their first matrimonial property (where one spouse is a Singapore Citizen and the other is a Singapore Permanent Resident), will the remission be clawed back if the Singapore Citizen subsequently buys over the SPR’s share of the property?
No, there will be no clawback of ABSD as long as the remission conditions under the Stamp Duties (Spouses) (Remission of ABSD) Rules are met as at the date of purchase of the property by the married couple.
