If a residential property in Singapore is purchased under a trust with a US citizen beneficiary, will the trust be eligible for the full 65% Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty (ABSD) remission, assuming all other remission conditions are met?
Under the Free Trade Agreement ABSD Remission, US citizen beneficiaries receive the same stamp duty treatment as Singapore citizens. Therefore, if this is the beneficiary's only residential property, the full 65% ABSD will be remitted, provided that all other remission conditions are met.
Information is available on Remission of ABSD (Trust).
