I'm a Singaporean, intending to jointly purchase a condo with my husband who is a US Citizen.
This will be my 2nd residential property as I am an owner of a HDB. My husband does not own any residential property. How will the Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD) be computed on our joint purchase?
For purchases involving multiple buyers with different profiles, the higher applicable ABSD rate will be used.
As your spouse is a US Citizen, he will be eligible for the same Stamp Duty treatment as Singapore Citizens under the Free Trade Agreement ABSD Remission.
Given that this joint purchase will be your second residential property and you own an HDB, ABSD at the applicable rate will be imposed on the higher of the purchase price or market value.
