What is national security clearance and when will I need to file a national security clearance request?

For a patent application which is first filed in Singapore, national security clearance will be provided automatically to determine if your invention is prejudicial to the national defence or public safety.
As part of national security clearance, IPOS will assess if such information should be published. If you are a person resident in Singapore who has file or cause to be filed a patent application overseas for the first time (ie: without making a claim of right of priority), you will need to file a national security clearance request either via the IPOS Digital Hub.
The national security clearance process is free of charge and most requests will receive a reply within 3 to 5 working days.
