Why is the shingles vaccine pricing different at GP clinics compared to Polyclinics for Pioneer Generation (PG) and Merdeka Generation (MG) cardholder?
At polyclinics, vaccination charges are means-tested. This means the cost depends on your financial situation, such as Per Capita Household Income (PCHI) or Annual Value (AV) of property. As a result, PG and MG cardholders with higher PCHI or AV may pay more compared to those with lower PCHI or AV.
At CHAS GP clinics, pricing for subsidised shingles vaccinations is fixed for eligible Singapore citizen aged (i) 60 years old and above, or (ii) 18 - 59 years old with certain medical conditions. The subsidised prices (per dose) are as follows:
Pioneer Generation: $38
Merdeka Generation/CHAS Blue/CHAS Orange: $75
CHAS Green/ Non-CHAS: $150
This fixed pricing at CHAS GP clinics may result in lower costs for PG and MG cardholders with higher PCHI or AV compared to polyclinics.
