I had just taken my Influenza (flu) vaccine. Why do I still see a recommendation to get an Influenza vaccine at a future date in my Health Plan?

Updated by HEALTHIERSG

This recommendation appears because Influenza (flu) vaccines need to be taken regularly to maintain protection against the flu virus. Your family doctor has included the future date in your Health Plan for two main reasons:

  1. The flu virus changes frequently, and vaccines are updated to protect against the most current strains

  2. The protection from each Influenza (flu) vaccine gradually decreases over time

It helps to ensure that you maintain optimal protection against Influenza (flu). You can discuss the recommended timing of your next vaccination with your family doctor during your next visit.
