When can I book appointments on behalf of my patients?

Updated by HAS

Your clinic can book appointments on behalf of patients in two ways. Patient consent is required for most booking types, so be sure that patients are aware and consent to the appointments before booking.

At Patient's Request

This applies to the majority of appointment types including vaccinations, screenings, general consultations, and any booking for a patient who isn't Healthier SG-enrolled at your clinic.

Before you create these bookings in HAS, you need the patient's explicit consent to book on their behalf. The system does not check this for you, so it's on you and your staff to get it right.

For appointments requiring patient consent, you'll see this reminder on the booking screen:

Proactive booking

Proactive booking allows you to book appointments on behalf of your Healthier SG enrollees without their explicit consent, as your GP clinic is responsible for the care of these patients. This booking option applies to three Healthier SG appointment types: First Health Plan Appointment, Annual Health Plan Check-In, and Flu Vaccination for HSG enrollees aged 65+.

For proactive bookings, the system checks that the patient is Healthier SG enrolled with your clinic before letting you book. If they're enrolled elsewhere, or not enrolled at all, the booking is blocked. Because this enrollment check is built in, no separate consent is required.

Why this matters

All appointment SMS notifications are sent from gov.sg on your clinic's behalf. Outside of the three proactive booking exceptions above, your clinic needs the patient's consent before booking for them - this isn't optional, and HAS doesn't check it for you.

If you're ever unsure whether a booking requires patient consent, treat it as though it does.
