Why are preschools remaining open when the PSI is at the Hazardous level?

Updated by ECDA

Closing preschools could significantly disrupt families who rely on these services. We recognise that some families may not be able to make alternative arrangements at short notice. Preschools will remain open to support families who are unable to make alternative care arrangements.

To safeguard the well-being of children who continue to attend, preschools will implement haze management measures as outlined in the Early Childhood Development Centres Code of Practice (Fifth Edition), including keeping children in enclosed indoor spaces with air purifiers and air-conditioners/fans switched on, and suspending all outdoor activities and all physical activities.
