Apart from programme fees, are there additional costs involved aside from preschool fees that parents must pay?

Preschools may request additional payment for certain items or services that are directly related to your child's education and care. However, it is important to note that any such requests should be transparent and clearly communicated to parents in advance. The items that preschools may charge for include:

• Uniform and any other attire;

• Insurance coverage for a child or infant who is enrolled in the preschool;

• Transporting a child or infant from his or her home to the preschool, or from the preschool to his or her home, or both;

• Attending field trips and excursions outside the preschool, including the cost of meals for the child and the cost of transporting a child to the venue of such field trips and excursions;

• Participating in concerts organised by the licensee, including graduation ceremonies;

• Photographs and videos taken of the preschool's children or infants and events;

• Maintaining online communication tools and systems between the licensee and the parent or guardian of a child or infant;

• Enrichment programmes;

• E-learning materials

For preschools providing infant services, the additional list of charges are as follows:

• Diapers

• Nappy rash cream

• Milk bottle

• Milk powder

• Cot bedding and any other item which may be consumed or used by an infant

Many preschools would require parents to provide their own diapers or milk powder for infants as they have differing needs.

Childcare preschools may also have additional charges for the use of a mattress or stack cot and mattress cover, while Kindergartens may charge for meals provided to children, or readers, academic materials, stationery, school bags and folders and art and musical materials used in providing those services.
