Do childminders need to install CCTVs in their home under the Childminding Pilot?

Childminding- General enquiry

Updated by ECDA

While ECDA does not stipulate that childminders are required to set up CCTVs, childminders should check directly with appointed operators if there are additional requirements. Nevertheless, ECDA encourages operators and childminders to make use of CCTVs and monitoring devices as part of their commitment to the safety and well-being of infants. Childminders can consider placing CCTVs in caregiving areas only, and during the hours of care. This is to balance the impact of CCTVs in childminders’ home environments while also providing parents with peace of mind.

Should CCTVs be installed, PDPA requirements must be complied with, and measures must be taken to ensure privacy e.g. only be placed in caregiving spaces.
